Letter from the editor

Find your People

I'm an autistic introvert, so I don't spend a whole lot of time with people in person. I'm much happier on my own. That being said, I also have found family/friends I can rely on. One of the greatest things about the internet, and Writing.Com, in my opinion, is that it provides a place to find support and family.

I studied literature and writing in college, but I'll always feel that I learned so much more after joining this website in 2004. It's been invaluable to me, getting feedback from fellow writers and readers. I've found friends here that I've kept for years and will likely keep for years to come.

Love for the written word tends to be what brings us to this site, whether it's writing or reading. The sense of community and friendship, in my opinion, is what keeps most of us here.

If you have the capacity for online social interaction, I highly recommend finding a Writing.Com group or activity to join where you have similar interests and goals. It can be very helpful to interact with others to help motivate you! Search groups with similar interests and if you can't find exactly what you're looking for, create a group yourself! Browse current groups for a template or idea for what you'd like your group to be. Feel free to ask for help from other members, too!

Take care, and as always, keep on writing! *Quill*

Ask & Answer

Feedback from my last newsletter "Contests & Activities Newsletter (December 14, 2022), which discussed reducing your resolutions:

That last letter in S.M.A.R.T stands for "timely." Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. This means that any goal gets a deadline attached to it.
While there is a new calendar coming up with a new first page, I am not going to make any resolutions for 2023. Everything I want to do, I am doing already. Everything I am pushing off until a later time will not happen in January or even the first months of 2023 either.
By taking away the calendar, the truth is that every day is the first and last. If someone wants to do something, they should not wait until some "date" arrives. Do or don't, but don't kid yourself.

Good advice! *Smile*

I'm going to run this in 2023. It starts on January 1 and the last day to jump on is January 30, 2023.
