This newsletter is about and for you. And for you seasoned members, I hope you'll find something you can take from my ramblings.

Some years ago, I heard a sermon about God’s outrage being stimulated, whether against the Israelites (worshiping a golden calf) or against Pharoah (for not letting his people go). I know not everyone who reads this column may be a Christian, but please bear with me. Read the papers; watch the evening news. They’re full of examples of someone getting angry at someone else.
Now folks talk about being triggered—a specific event that causes one’s anger to be manifested. Have you never been “outraged” at some incident you perceived was perpetrated against you? How did you handle it? I tend to write about it (though I may not put that response out for public consumption).
Lately I’ve seen a few examples of folks railing in one of the help forums against some perceived injustice. I’ve also seen the WDC community come together to try and rectify that injustice. It is okay to ask for help when needed. It’s even encouraged.
We’re a community. A writing community--one of folks brought together around a love for writing, in my opinion. We express ourselves through the written word. We, perhaps more than most folks, know the power of words to heal … or to hurt.
Today’s world is full of examples that hurt. It’s just way too pervasive. Maybe it has always been this way and I’m just beginning to see in my old(er) age. Nah, I prefer to see the positivity in life.
Writing.com marks the beginning of each year with the January "Dear Me: Official WDC Contest" . While only paid members are eligible for the prizes offered in this contest, every member is encouraged to take stock of his or her life situation and plan their writing direction for the coming year.
What is the trigger for your writing? Where do you hope to be on your writing journey by year’s end? As a writing community, I believe we’re a positive lot. And I see that overwhelmingly in our help forums and groups—people helping people.
By the time this newsletter is published, there’ll be a bit less than a week remaining to enter the "Dear Me: Official WDC Contest" . It’s time to consider how you want this year in your writing life to look.

From TheBusmanPoet  : I'm more a go it alone type but not 100%. I will listen and read good advice when given. Just gives me a smaller option if I need to go to. I enjoy interacting on the news feed but I've always be one to go it alone. I'll usually ask for help when I'm not sure or have a question about a certain kind of writing or with Wdc. Can I improve to be a better writer? Of course but it's more of a personal journey of how I see things through my eyes. I do the best I can and that's all anyone can ask for.

From Jay O'Toole  : Friendship is so important to me. My WDC friends have already helped me grow as a writer. Before WDC I had never attempted to write a book, but this is where I learned about NaNoWriMo. 🌷 Carol St.Ann 🌷  has helped me greatly as a novelist. I still have room to grow with five rough drafts in the hopper. I learn, even from those, who don’t agree with me philosophically. I don’t know all things, but I think I’m growing to speak my mind with both confidence and grace. If I have offended anyone by being without grace, I am sorry for that.
Christmas is a subject, that has taken the focus of my mind for the past nine years, since I finally chose to like something and Someone for myself after years of people-pleasing. Even then I have grown in my understanding of the historicity of the celebration of Christmas, and all of its Meaning. Different viewpoints have caused me to think things through deeply. I believe, that true faith must always be married to thought, like the Christians in the town of Berea. It would frighten me to live without both in tandem.
