Letter from the editor

WDC Angels

Every once in a while you get to be part of something spectacular--something that makes you feel so great you've got a perma-grin plastered to your face for weeks. I was privileged to be part of just such a thing recently.

In July, tarafouts ran "Invalid Item . I donated a couple packages, one of which turned out to be pretty popular. The last week of the auction, simply_complex and SHERRI GIBSON battled it out, and the final bid for this one package went to my dear friend Sherri Gibson for a whopping 1.2 MILLION GPs! *Shock* Some of my favorite groups (Helping Hearts, Simply Positive, The Deacon Academy and Showering Acts of Joy) will benefit from this generous and jaw-dropping bid, and it wouldn't have been possible were it not for Sherri and Nancy. Thank you both so much. You're angels!

I LOVE this community, and I love the people who populate it. Entering (and occasionally winning) contests is fun, but it's equally satisfying to do something kind for another--at least it is for me. Obviously it is for Sherri and Nancy, too.

Please take a few minutes to give back to this wonderful community we all love so much by visiting the raffles and auctions below. Donate to them. Bid in them. Tell your friends about them. Spread the love!

Until next time, take care of yourselves and each other.

Feedback

The following feedback is in response to "Contests & Activities Newsletter (July 8, 2009)

Lani says, "Interesting newsletter. Sometimes I wonder the opposite ... I wonder if I'm too depedent on prompts--that I'm not a real writer because ideas aren't overflowing. Who knows? Some of my best work was because of prompts." Nah! You're a "real" writer regardless of where the inspiration comes from. Thanks for the feedback, Lani!

Adriana Noir says, "I used to feel the same way about prompts. Now, especially with the picture prompts, I'm addicted. It seems even when I'm having a major dry spell, a juicy prompt can breathe so much needed life back into my fingers!" Me too! Sometimes it takes a little while, and sometimes I'm not inspired at all ... but when inspiration strikes I feel like I've been tazed: stunned for a moment, then the juices start flowing and things start happening. *Laugh* Thanks for commenting, Adriana!

StephBee - House Targaryen says, "I love your story about not writing for prompts then having a picture inspire you. Thanks for the inspiration and support." Thank YOU for your encouragement and support, Steph! My writing has improved so much over the last three years, and I have you and other wonderful WDC members to thank for it. Thanks, everyone! *Kiss*
