Last weekend a coworker and I moved our office to another building about 10 miles away. It was kind of exhausting doing physical labor all weekend long, but it's going to be so worth it when we get to enjoy our brand new office!

That's how a lot of things work: You put in a lot of work and thought and effort, and then it's all worth it in the end. I can think of a few examples on Writing.Com:

*Star* Hosting a contest/activity. For a lot of members, you get the idea first. Maybe you run it be a few people first. Create the item which holds the event, and then put it out there for the site to see. It can be nerve-wracking, sure, but rewarding when the entries start coming in! (Not to mention the positive feedback! Which is why I think it's really important to rate & review contests & activities that you view. Think of how you'd love to hear from viewers!)

*Quill* Creating a piece of writing. Whether it's been a while since you've written something new (like me) or if you're writing all the time, it usually takes a good amount of thought and effort to create something new, and the payoff is so worth it. I can remember when I was in high school when I discovered the joy of writing. The thrill of finishing a piece of writing felt so good!


As I write this, it's the end of the weekend and I'm pretty worn out from moving. Still, I can find plenty of things to do here on the site that aren't too involving in case I feel the need for a nap! *Laugh*

I think a lot of satisfaction in life comes from a balance of fun and work. Work can be very satisfying, but without a break now and then, it can be exhausting. Don't forget to take breaks from the serious work of writing (and other responsibilities) when you can to recharge and have a little bit of fun! *Smile*

My last newsletter, ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (February 19, 2013)" ), discussed change.

Change can be good- though things can be tricky to figure out. One thing that I wish would change in the number of people who enter my contests- I wish I got swamped with entries. ~ BIG BAD WOLF is hopping

Change is good because it taps into our resources for adaptability - some of which we didn't even know we had. The process can be painful though. ~ blunderbuss
