Hello, folks! It is my honor and pleasure to be your guest editor, for this edition of the Spiritual Newsletter. 
Many of us in the Northern Hemisphere have just said so long to the summer. It has a touch of sadness at first, because the winter ahead can be long and harsh in many places. However, autumn is also filled with its own revitalizing energy; different from spring, but a re-birthing, nevertheless. Take for instance, that cool nip in the air, it fills the lungs with a crispness like the apples stacked by the bushel-full at the local orchards.
The aromas of fall send new scents of delicious pies. Apples, which are in season, are probably the official start of the heavy-duty baking, now that the summer heat has departed. Homes all around are filled with the sweet-spiciness in the air. Perhaps there will be extra pies to share with the neighbors. That always brings smiles and will likely be paid forward in other ways.
People seem to enjoy crafts as well as baking at this time of year. It's a perfect time for busy, creative hands. There are so many things one can do; quilting, photography, writing and sketching. If that's not your cup of tea, there's always leisurely walking amid the powerful aura of a new season. The possibilities seem boundless with a new season calling. It is a writer's creative play-stage.
If the above mentioned snapshot has made you smile and nod; then it's the perfect time to create your own, new season image in your mind. Take this time to stop and appreciate the newness of it. Have a still shot of this picture etched in your memory. Reach inside your spirit and pull that picture out whenever you need the inspiration to write something. It will jump start a muse that has lulled, as the excitement of the early fall delights wane, and the holiday joy is still some time away. It's the part of the fall that borders on winter and leaves the skies bleak and the trees bare.
Gray is not always inspiring. Nature is resting from its busy growth season and can retire for several months. It has the luxury of awakening in the spring, gloriously renewed. We do not have the luxury of cocooning ourselves all winter long. So, how do we get inspired after the excitement of the holidays have passed? We reach into our memory book within our mind's eyes and recreate a moment.
If you have children, you can throw a quilt on the floor, light the fireplace and gather the children around for stories and s'mores. Remember, they are probably bored with the season, also.
Years ago, I wanted to spice-up the long, hot, and dry, Californian summer, with some weather fun. I had our children invite their friends to our home for a "blizzard party." All the windows in the party room, were covered with aluminum foil, to keep it dark inside. I wanted them to use their other senses to live the mood. The air conditioner was turned down low, to put more chill in the air. I had a recording of an "Alpine Winter" playing in the background. It had the sound of a crackling fire and a wooden shutter shaking against the howling wind; as well as the icy particles blasting on windows. The only light was from an oil lamp and a camp lantern used to light the face of the one telling stories. (Usually I and usually scary tales.)
Those kids had the best time and so did I! It was such a success, we planned more theme related parties, with the appropriate food and mood music or sound cd's for the occasion. That's when the creative writer's mind gets an injection of inspiration. Have you ever been inspired to have a Christmas in July party? I have! (That's why it's a good idea to have a pre-lit Christmas tree, in a box in the attic.  ) Let your imagination awaken your spirit.
Folks, before the gray skies take-over, breathe in the scent of homemade apple pies, the crisp autumn air and the cooler evenings that spark a romantic blaze in the newly awakened fireplace. Comforters and comforting thoughts filter their way into the home. This could be your still shot. You merely need to bring it to life in your own creative way. Appreciate it and retrieve it when needed. It will be with you always and give you joy whenever the between-season blues may hit and the muse feels uninspired.
Enjoy your new season, folks--whichever hemisphere you reside in, and make sweet memories to relive those moments when the newness of it has faded. Appreciate each season; they can touch us in such a positive way.

I received numerous comments and emails from my last Spiritual Newsletter, "Spiritual Newsletter (July 31, 2013)" , too numerous to post them all here, though I will keep them all. However, I wanted to take the time to thank each one of you who sent your prayers, well-wishes and lifted my spirits, during a time that was so bleak and heartbreaking. It meant so much to me that so many from my WDC family reached out in such a special and personal way.
You have all touched my heart!
I will end this section with a poem written by embe  , pertaining to the loss of a mother.
Dear Webwitch,
Herewith my poem about my mom
to honor your dear mother,
in this fine newsletter.
When I was a child
and life was new
for a boy like me,
sitting on the terrace
by the old covered stones,
I dreamed I saw a fairy
staring at the stars
where fireflies danced,
to the light of the moon
peeping down on me.
My mother smiling
to hold me dear
and hug me close,
as I wonder why
her eyes are blue,
seeing into heaven
the stars above
the moon to shine,
on the fairy dreams
I dreamed in her arms.
Today I write this note
of my memories there,
to place upon her grave
in loving words to say
for her to remember -
"I love you dearest Mom
for being my guiding light
in sadness of my loneliness,
standing here beside your grave
your eyes like the stars in heaven.”
