Letter from the editor

Cold Turkey

Did you ever have to give up something you love? A vice that was doing you more harm than good? Or something that was distracting you from your dreams and goals? Whatever the reason, maybe you had to quit something at some point in your life, and I think that can teach a valuable lesson about determination, hard work and success.

Whether we're trying to give something up or trying to do something more often (which usually entails giving something else up!), there are some tips that I think can be helpful:

*Check1* Assess. Take a step back and think about where you are and where you want to be. Try to think realistically about your situation and your goals.

*Checkb* Plan. Start to make a plan in order to complete your task. Plan for detours and hiccups! Plan, plan, plan and plan some more!

*Check2* Jump in. You've got to start somewhere. Pick a date and start if that works for you. I'm more of a, "Let's start right now!" type of person, but choose what works for you!

*Check3* Keep track. Keep a journal or a list that you can check in often on your journey. Hold yourself accountable in some way whether it's in an online journal/blog or with friends or just a checklist.

*Check5* Visualize. Picture your goal in front of you to keep yourself motivated! Have mantras or goal photos in your mind or printed out so you can see them regularly.

*Check2* Reward. Don't forget to reward yourself for reaching your goals along the way! That may help keep you motivated to keep going on!

What motivated this newsletter choice? I've recently had to give up caffeine... Looking on the bright side, it will help my health and once I pass the initial uncomfortable phase (i.e., headaches and tiredness. Blech.), I'll be fine! *Laugh*

I think these tips can help with lots of goals, though, whether it's giving something up or working toward any other goal!

As always, keep on writing!

Thanks for getting "Game of Thrones out there, Spidey!

P15 does look amazing but I love the simplicity of it. And the mobile view is so much better now and much easier to navigate.

Thank you so much for including my contest 'Tweet me a Story', in your newsletter. It was such a surprise and so exciting to see it there 'in print'!
