NaNoWriMo!

Just in case you haven't heard, November is National Novel Writing Month, and all over the world thousands and thousands of insanebrave souls attempt to write 50,000 words in 30 days!

Some tips:

*Clock2* If you can, stay up until midnight the night of September 30th and write even if it's only a few words. The jump-start will help to give you a mental boost!

*People* Participate in word wars and find a NaNo buddy or group. In the same way that Writing.com is motivational in being around other writers, it will help during NaNo, too!

*Check*Set goals if that's your thing! Set a word count goal for each day (lower your goal on days that you'll know you won't have as much time to write, like weekends or holidays).

*PenBl*Write at least 1,677 words per day. Write over that amount so that you're ahead! That way if you get a day where you just can't find inspiration/motivation or if you just end up too busy, you'll be in good shape!

*Laugh* Warn your family! Let them know what you're doing so they can at least attempt to understand why you're acting a little funny this November...

*Star* Don't forget to promote Writing.com while you're off-site with other NaNo-ers! Add a link to your profile & signature that links back to your WDC profile. Bringing more people to WDC is the goal! More people to read & review your work, plus your Community Recognition number can go up by referring people!

Basically, I think the best advice for getting through NaNoWriMo is to enjoy the ride. Make goals if that works for you, or just fly by the seat of your pants if that's the experience you want to go with! It's totally up to you. There's no right and wrong way to get through the craziness that is National Novel Writing Month.

As for the rest of us, there's plenty to do if you're not participating in NaNo! One of the obvious things you can do is cheer on the NaNo participants! See my "Editors Picks" below for non-NaNo contests & activities. Believe me, there are plenty of those!

Happy NaNo-ing to all you novel-writers out there! *Smile*

Ask & Answer

My last newsletter, ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (September 30, 2015)), discussed deadlines.

So many things to help us remember. I have a planner that I used religiously then stopped. I don't know why but I should probably start using it again.

I've thought about giving mine up, but I'm not sure I'd be able to do it! *Bigsmile*
