Scary Eyes


Eyes. The windows to our soul. Our dark soul.


Who's staring at you through the window?


Eyes are the perfect item to make a scary story even more scary.

The personal horror: Everybody who can see is afraid of losing their eye sight. Losing eye sight through an accident or a gory attack is even scarier than growing blind with age.

The what we see horror: With our eyes, we can see things sometimes before we hear or smell them. We can see bloody pictures in magazines or watch scary movies. And sometimes the scary thing we see is nothing by white-ish slime covering somebody.

The eyes of somebody watching us. Always popular: somebody standing in the night outside your window and looking in at you. Somebody frowning at you with scary eyebrows knitted into angry fuzzy bats in their face. The stalker, the one with the looking glass, the dead stare.

Are eyes really windows to our souls? I'm not sure. When I simply look at the iris, the colored part of an eye, I don't see much. But the area right around the eyes can dramatically change the way we feel and think about somebody's eyes. Just by looking at the eyes and the area right around it, we can deduct a lot about the person whose eyes we're contemplating.

Eyes are a freaky thing. Did you have to dissect an eye in school? If you did, you will know it's moist, bouncy, and filled with a variety of fluids of different consistency. So, eyes - all by themselves - are enough to freak a person out.

drifter46 wrote: Yes he is but your forgot to mention the tunnels his spirit has managed to dig from the prison to the school field now and each Friday night after the football game he climbs up and out, takes a random girl hostage and carts her off to the restroom for whatever purpose.

Summer was fun. And so long ago. I'm ready for the next summer and the creation of more urban myths.

Detective wrote: Urban myths and legends are a great way to come up with a story, especially a horror story. Many of them have been around for decades and have stuck in the public consciousness, even when there are multiple versions, and there often are. Basing a horror story, even a short one, on an urban legend can add to the fear and suspense of the story.

Now that would be an idea for a short story contest.
