Adjust and Adapt
I've been traveling the last couple weeks. One thing I notice about jaunting around is that things don't go as planned pretty often. Sometimes it's because you're having such a good time that moving on to the next fun thing isn't necessary. I did a lot of fun stuff, including watching a rocket take off with supplies for the international space station.
I also managed to drag my camera along here and there to get some fun shots. The one thing I thought I would have more of is downtime. Almost three weeks away from home and I thought I would have more time to read books and watch a few movies on my tablet.
But just like characters in stories, I seem to hop from one thing to the next and then collapse at the end of the day. While I notice a lot of details, I don't have time to dwell on them and review them. I jotted a few notes along the way which should help.
The good news is I have lots of new ideas for characters and stories. As always, I'll write on and hope you will too.

Excerpt: When it was time for the new illusion. Lacey took a microphone and cautioned the audience to be quiet. A second set of curtains was opened to reveal a large glass tank filled with water. In silence they watched as Daniel was manacled, hands and feet. Two men set him into the metal chest and he knelt and bowed down so they could close the lid. Chains were fastened around the chest and a crane lowered it into the water.
Excerpt: They all acted like schoolboys in the throes of puberty. It was like they had just seen Mary Sweets (the town librarian) skirt blow up over her head in a gust of wind and finding out underwear was something she had; let’s just say an aversion to. They truly were an odd assemblage and Will Luke was having a good laugh at their expense.

Jaeff | KBtW of the Free Folk  responded: When I need quiet time, I go for a walk. I spend so much time in front of a computer indoors that just going outside and experiencing natural light and sounds is often enough to clear my head. If I can get a little exercise out of it and stretch out the legs that have been sitting all day, even better! 
Elle - on hiatus  said: I'm not sure that I am particularly good at writing a balance between quiet time and action, but I definitely notice it when I'm reading. Constant action is both exhausting and unbelievable, and of course no action is boring. A good balance can make or break a story. I'll have to try to keep this in mind next time I'm writing.
Elfin Dragon-finally published  replied to an earlier issue's question: Gosh darn, I'm always falling down the internet rabbit hole. Especially when researching or just caught in the cat videos. Although yesterday I was looking up mushrooms and found 6 ways they can save the world!  But movies, videos, tv...anything will give me ideas for stories.
