Letter from the editor

You may have noticed it already. If you haven't, you are bound to notice it soon. A huge event has begun on Writing.Com – "Game of Thrones [13+].

Whilst the latest season of the drama-packed television series has ended, and the world is still waiting for The Winds of Winter, on here, seven Houses (well, technically six Houses and the White Walkers) are battling it out for the throne. And they are doing so in many different ways.

There are daily reviewing challenges, as well as reviewing battles. You may well find your portfolio explored by contestants looking for a suitable item to give feedback on. This means that if there is something you would like to hear people's thoughts on, it is a good idea to highlight these items, or to place them at the top of its folder. That way, you stand a good chance that it will catch someone's eye.

How will you know if you have the type of item reviewers are looking for? Have a peek at the main Game of Thrones forum, linked above. Place it in your favourites. Every day, the host will post a new genre to be reviewed, so if you have a suitable item, that may be the time to highlight it.

To give you an idea of how much reviewing is going on right now – there are three battles currently on, with 190 authors having been listed to receive reviews, and that is outside of the daily listed genre. There are hundreds of reviews flying around. And it's only the beginning of the month.

Contestants are also given five writing prompts each week. Even if you are not directly involved in the game, they're worth checking out. You might just get inspired.

If you are looking for items to review, the forum is a good place to find new items. Contestants will be posting their entries there, and you can be guaranteed that they would love to receive feedback on their work. After all, if their item places, they will receive valuable points for their House – points they need to win the throne. Any advice, then, will be welcome.

There will be scavenger hunts. Contestants will be creating quizzes, crosswords, surveys, madlibs. That means that if you are looking for something fun to do, or you simply want to procrastinate (who doesn't, from time to time?) you can find those items there, too.

Considering the intensity of the event – it's a whole month of this – there is no doubt that the contestants have to overcome a lot of obstacles along the way. Fatigue will set in, stress, a struggle to meet deadlines, a struggle to let their creativity flow. Therefore, all Houses will truly appreciate if you stop by and cheer them on.

All are deserving. All will be working very hard. It will be an extremely productive month on Writing.Com, and everyone will benefit. So, come wave your pom-poms, not just today, but throughout, if you can. Appreciation is always nice, as is a smile, or a giggle.

And if your Newsfeed gets a bit flooded with GoT stuff, we do apologise. Just think, next month it will all be over. For now, though... I hope you'll enjoy yourself.
