About This Newsletter

“One love, one heart, one destiny.” – Bob Marley

A banner for the Romance/Love newsletter.

Summer is here and we’re all busy enjoying our summer activities. For me, I’ve been busy camping with the scouts and my boys. August brings us hot days, cool nights, and gentle breezes on the seacoast. Fruit is ripe and juicy. There are lots of smiles as children enjoy swimming and ice cream. It’s the little things like this which mean a lot.

August also gives us Romance Awareness Month. Six months after February we could use a gentle reminder to be a little more mindful of our romantic relationships. Romance is an essential part to relationships. Again, little things go a long way like holding hands, enjoying a chocolate treat, a movie, or a dinner out. Let a little romance/love into your heart. It’s your destiny.

Letter from the editor

How does destiny fit into romance? According to Webster’s: destiny is the inevitable or necessary fate to which a particular person or thing is destined, or a predetermined course of events considered beyond human power/control.

Are you destined for your romantic partner?

Are you soulmates?

The thought is when the soul is ready, your soulmate will appear. If you’re wondering if you’re ever going to fall in love with your soulmate, fear not. Take this time to work on yourself – mediate. Go walking. Find time to read. Work on your personal, emotional, and spiritual growth. Your romantic partner will arrive when you’ve done a little work on yourself. After all, it’s destiny.*Smile*

What is a soulmate? They’re in synch with us, supportive, intelligent, and funny. They help us grow in love and wisdom to aid us in learning a difficult lesson. They might act as a catalyst to aid us in overcoming a deep seated fear, challenge our beliefs, or discover something new.

When our soulmate steps into our lives, that’s when we’re ready to love – and learn – the lessons we’re destined to fulfill.

Question: Do you believe in soulmates?

Feedback from my Romance/Love NL DTD: 20 JUL 2016:

Incurable Romantic
Steph, your Romance/Love NL this week on Disapproval was spot on! My late wife Linda and I went through just this issue with my parents. They had my whole life mapped out, and their version did not include a committed relationship until after college. Linda and I fell in love my senior year in high school. Legal age in Ohio then was 21, not 18. End result? I dropped out of college (went back later on my own), moved out of their house. Mom didn't like the fact that Linda was an epileptic, either. I left my family behind and followed my heart. I never regretted it, and never will. Linda and I had 13 wonderful years together, 11 1/2 as a married couple, before she passed away at the age of 30. Only at Linda's visitation did my mother finally "admit" her mistake: "Jimmie, I just want to tell you that I might have been wrong about Linda."

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It’s never easy when it’s like this. I’m sorry you lost Linda so young, but happy to hear you had time with her. I’m glad your mother apologized to you.

Great newsletter, Steph! You know that I am a sucker for those 'forbidden loves'! The forbidden aspect seems to heighten everything about the characters and their stories. Thanks so much for including Rathe & Mercy in the column!

Oh, I know you are. It’s great to see you back on WDC, too! I’ve always enjoyed your writing.

Quick-Quill
I’m working on a second chance romance. His family doesn't approve of her. They come from a strict religious code and are worried she will entice their father away. She come from a strict religious background and won't commit as she is afraid their beliefs will clash. Friends, romance, chemistry but will they finally let their guard down and talk about what they really believe? Maybe they aren't so far apart?
Sounds like good conflict for a romance!
