About This Newsletter

Write every day. Make writing a part of your life, but also don't be afraid of learning from others because I think you can. I still try to think of myself as a beginner because that way I can keep on learning.

Letter from the editor

How new are you to Writing.com? How comfortable are you to using the site so far?

New members join the site every day. There are many people out there who love to read, write, or at worst, scribble words down for their own eyes, never to share them with anyone. Yet when they find WdC they are tempted to join and perhaps even share bits and pieces of their writing with the rest of us.

For a new member it's a big step. You open up to a community you're not familiar with. Your hopes and dreams are big, because you feel as if you bled on paper, those words etched in your memory, and now others get to see it, read it, evaluate it. The first piece you've posted in your portfolio gets some attention, good reviews, decent reviews, which inspire you to write even more. The emails you've received to welcome you seemed overwhelming but now that you're in the game, you either deleted them, or don't bother looking at them at all since you've got all these reviews to go through and see what should or could be improved in your writing.

As you post more writing, you have to remember that this site is about give and take. It's about learning, growing as a writer, and helping others do the same. Reviewing is an immense part of this community. That doesn't mean that you'll automatically make friends through reviewing. You'll hear from some members here and there, but as life is, unless you take that next step into the WdC world, you'll miss out on many good things.

Don't be afraid to say hello on the community newsfeed or add your two cents to someone else's post. It's how your name will get out there and more than a few reviewers will know of you. We are here to encourage each other. Do the same. Share in the joys of writing alongside the other writers. Waiting for someone to knock on your door may take a while. Best open it wide and enjoy the sunshine the site has to offer.

I and many other members on the site are always available to help out which ever way we can. We'd prefer for you to visit the right forums with questions, however, because it'll teach you a bit more about WdC, how to get around it and learning more than the answer to your question. Once you get the hang of that, you'll be on your way to make friends, follow others and make them part of your newsfeed. Best places to visit on the site in order to learn the basics and ask questions would be the following links located under the Community Tab on your left side:

"Noticing Newbies
"Writing.Com General Discussion

Under Writing.com Tools, you can find the following links, which can be of great help if you don't know which direction to take:

"Non-Technical Support Forum
"Technical Support Forum
"Writing.Com 101

The 101 is great for getting to know the site better, while the other two are awesome for meeting new people on the site. It doesn't really end there. Many forums are created for interaction only, especially for new members:

Don't forget to be yourself. We're all writers and more often than not, introverted. Remember that we've all started where you are right now. If we can do it, so can you!
