Site Contests
Have you noticed we have a site contest every month? WDC sponsors a contest each month with a changing theme. So if poetry is your thing, you can can enter it some months, other months short stories are the requirement. Sometimes the contest allows either one. You can find the current contest, "Quotation Inspiration: Official Contest" sponsored in a few places including The Hub.
Is it worth your time to enter the site contest? Absolutely, the prizes are big. The top prize is $100 in gift points. Even third place is a good pile of points. There are three major prizes in the contest, so if 100 people enter, you have a great chance of winning a prize. The odds are better than a raffle and the payoff is much larger. And the few hours you might spend writing a short story can garner you a lot more points then spending a couple hours reviewing. I'm not saying you shouldn't review, that's important too, but why not spend a little time chasing a big prize?
Sure, you have to put in some time writing a good story or a thoughtful poem, but I feel it's well worth your time. This month's contest merely gives you a quote to inspire you.

As with all inspiration prompts for contests, the quote doesn't have to be in the story, it is there to inspire your thoughts for creation. Whatever story line comes to mind is what you should write. There's no set genre, scene or characters, it's up to you. Two thousand words or less and you have a great entry for the contest. Read the instructions and follow the rules to enter.
I personally try not to look at other entries until mine is finished. This way my entry is unique and not influenced by another story. I've judged the site contests and I've never seen two identical stories in the list to be judged. Every story entered has merit. So take a look at the quote in the current contest and jot down a few ideas; let your thoughts flow and see what pops up to write. It could very well benefit your gift point coffers.

This challenge will be a little easier on you- you will have 50 to 75 words to tell a succinct moment, an important scene or even a common one, that is filled with nuance.
