Pick Up Your Chin

I logged into the site today to write this newsletter and of course, immediately decided to procrastinate by catching up with a few blogs. Even though I might have a bad day here and there...or a few, I love to read what my WDC friends and cohorts are up to. I love all the anecdotes and stories of family fun. And sometimes there is a sad entry, but I always think to myself how brave that person must be, sharing even the sad parts of their life with people they've never met.

I hopped over to a blog (I won't say which one.) and was delighted to find they were the recipient of a kindness. Doesn't it make you feel so good to know there are kind and good people out there willing to help if you just ask? My favorite part of her blog is the ends of her entries where she lists things she's grateful for. It was so much nicer to read something optimistic than the social media flame wars and endless memes.

While this site isn't the biggest, or the flashiest, I have to say we really do have some awesome members. It's wonderful to see you encouraging and supporting one another. So if you're a person struggling with something, be it a contest or activity, or just need an ear to listen...don't be afraid to ask! People don't often ask or take on a project for someone else unless they're asked to help. And helping makes them feel good, makes them feel like they're making a difference. So instead of shouldering a burden alone, just ask for help. Let someone help you carry the load, and we'll all feel better.

 Awakenings: Journey to Iceland  (18+)
Bjork, a Mexican Sorcerer, and maybe a trip to the Old West. Sound Interesting?
#178902 by RatDog

Excerpt: "Hey buddy, who you jivin' with that cosmic debris? Your Forrest Gump philosophy won't
work on me, and I've never even been to Iceland, although I did consider going there once
when I was younger.... I used to have a crush on Bjork..."

The old man continues to stare at you fixedly, and you feel as if you are falling backwards,
spinning into a long tunnel (like they used to have on that old "Time Tunnel" show on TV when
you were a kid, only not as cheesy.)

INTERACTIVE

Excerpt: Gorg jeGellan stood in the doorway of his shop, watching one of the suns rise, and wondered if his shipment of egg warmers would arrive today. Mrs. Trinkle had been placed in the uncomfortable position of having to sit on her own eggs for over three days now. She was getting quite angry with him

Not that egg warmers were his typical merchandise. His shop was in the old part of town in a brick building probably built by the first colonists. Over the door it said Advanced Scientific Devices and he did have a few gadgets that were arguably "advanced".
