Letter from the editor

Do you think you're funny?

That is something I've always struggled with, but the answer is always the same. I think I'm hilarious. No, seriously. The problem is other people. They don't get my jokes. I'll talk and explain things or drop a random sentence and I'll start laughing because, well, it's funny! I can't help other people. It's sad that they don't see the humor in but as long as I have a good laugh, I'm alright with that.

We all enjoy a good laugh, be it at our own expense, someone else's, or by reading something funny. It's healthy! We need it. Life is serious as is. Then again, you have people who laugh all the time at everything and you just want to tell them to put a sock in it for the. I mean, when it's not funny, it's not. Stop laughing.

Bad jokes aside, you really do need to know when a joke comes in handy and when it might be out of place. Laughing at a funeral for no apparent reason is completely uncalled for. Think before you act. What could have been said on such a sad day to make you laugh?

Comedy in itself is a big stress reliever and at times we don't have enough of it. However, many of us, including me, don't know when the right time is to include something others can laugh about. Many times I've written things where I see nothing that would produce a laugh, and the reaction from people is the complete opposite. That's when they think I'm being silly or funny. Believe me, I wouldn't want to spoil their fun or have them deflate my ego, no. I let them have it because it does feel good, even if it's unexpected.

Timing is everything though. If you don't time it well, the whole thing may go down the drain. When it comes to me and my telling jokes, I might as well sit next to the toilet and keep flushing. Only because my sarcasm is present at all times doesn't mean you can't laugh, right? So, next time you tell a joke or read something funny, laugh! Even if no one else agrees with you. And if you do write comedy, do you have any suggestions for me? *Bigsmile*

'Til next time!
