Drawing A Number From A Hat
When running a contest or raffle with prizes, how do you pick the winner? Do you cut up little bits of paper and put them in a sack and draw one? Years ago, when I did drawings, I drew the winners from an actual deck of cards or numbered pieces of paper. Now I use something better...Virtual Dice.
You can find WDC's Virtual Dice in the navigation panel, under Writing.Com Tools > Virtual Dice. This is a very handy tool for drawing winners fairly because you can associate the dice roll with your contest or activity. Fill out the first field with the item ID number of the contest or activity you're hosting. Then you have to decide how many dice will be tossed and how many rolls will occur.
If you would like three individual winners in your raffle, then you would choose to roll 1 die - three times - with the number of sides being the number of people in the raffle. Then if you want three different people to win, you'd click the radio button next to "No Repeat Numbers". This tells the program to keep rolling until three different numbers are chosen.
The instructions on the Virtual Dice page are quite easy to understand. Give it a try for your next raffle. And note it on your raffle or contest page, so more people can learn about a cool tool in our WDC arsenal - the Virtual Dice. Contestants can also look up the roll if they want to verify your picks. Now go throw out those little scraps of paper!

QPdoll  responded: I list my contest in the Contests listing and post periodically on the newsfeed. It's the NO DIALOGUE CONTEST. "No Dialogue Contest-CLOSED"
dogpack:saving 4 premium: DWG  sent: I promote my activities by using the advertising opportunities available through WDC, such as the newsfeed, and also by word of mouth. I haven't submitted to contest central station yet and should avail myself and the group {item:1817507) other activities to the other WDC pages where items are advertised.
Whata SpoonStealer  submitted: Newsfeed! And in my Blog. Then there’s my handle 
Lilith of House Martell  told us: I promote my activities with Newsfeed posts, links in my email, and a modified handle!
On one occasion I even wrote a note to the editor of a newsletter! 
If you don't tell your friends about "Invalid Item" and "Question of the Day!" , who will???

Jaeyne of the Free Fab Five  added: I don't run my own activities. I participate as much as I can, but I don't run any of my own. I do try to back a few behind the scenes, but I could definitely work harder on promoting the ones I participate in.
After all, I'd like them to stick around. Participants encouraging other people to participate is likely a good idea. I'm sure you've thought of that. I hadn't, and I'm sort of thinking aloud at this point.
