Hello everyone, I’m Samberine Everose and I'm here again your guest editor this week in the Contests and Activities Topic of the WDC Newsletter, and just like I've always been saying, I will not be tired in expressing my thankfulness to all the beautiful people here in this wonderful community of writers for not only helping us to improve our writings but giving us also encouragement and inspiration every day. 
I'm sure, being a writer we are not only being creative and certain in our writings but also we are being creative too in the way we are judging for a contest.

Styles in Judging for a Contest
My first experienced being a judge in real life and here in WDC is some kind of terrifying or maybe stressing because I am thinking if I will or if I can choose properly or judge the Best especially if all the entries are best and just only a blink of an eye is there differences.
But I said to myself that contest is a contest, and contest always has a judge to determine and will choose the great, the greater and the greatest. Its a contest, Right?
We can learn through experiences and we can create our own analyzation or theory and develop a method on how to judge properly.
Here are some different ways on how we judge in any manner, this may not be the best, but at least you may have a clue on it.
 The "Choose the Best" style.
Choose the Best style is the simplest form of judging, just first see if the entry follows properly the rules so that it will be qualified for the contest and for judging and then choose the best, you may even rank it from 1 to 10 if there are many entries in that contest.
The Mathematical grade or Percentage style.
This way of judging is very much in detailed than the other one that I stated. This is where you can put a grade or percentage on the entry/s.
First you need to ask the different criteria of the contest, in that you can already base and give the best and the proper or deserving percentage on each criteria's entry, like for example Poetry Contest in one entry, each judge should give a deserving grade for the elements of poetry and so on, then the host will be the one who will put together and compute the earned points or percentages for the average. And the entry who have the highest percentage will be the winner of course.
The "Explanation or Opinion" style.
This kind of style in judging is like choosing the entry that the judge thinks the best and will give a valid explanation or opinion why he/she chose it, this is just like brainstorming with other judges to explain or give opinions also why they chose that certain item. Then the host will be the one who will give its final ranking and choosing. This is not more on computation but more on opinions.
In my judging experience I often used these three, but mostly it depends on the contest what its requiring for.

Hello Samberine,
I think this was a great little reminder! We do more often than not, rely on our technology for everything, but we also tend to get so wrapped up in it, that we forget our spiritual side of life. Life is a gift we wouldn't have without that.
Thankfulness is one of the virtues I always like to remember. I have a lot to be thankful for, for example my family, and food on the table. So remembering to use prayers to thank for these things is always great. I spend a lot of my time usually praying for others and forget myself. For example, there was a man on the road yesterday driving out of control, speeding 20 miles over the speed limit, his driving was so wreckless it was terrifying. He went right through the red light next to me and almost hit a car that had a family in it with two small children, my heart skipped a beat. I prayed for him to make it home safe so that himself and others would not get hurt.
Thank you for your enlightening newsletter and for reminding us of what's important.

Sam, I love you newsletter this week. The Power of Prayer is still the strongest form of communication. When it's done in numbers it is even more powerful.
We are all guilty of technology in the form of communication. It makes communicating around the globe so much quicker and easier. I wonder just how long would it take a letter to get to China from Mississippi? I do know that it would be less than 100+ years ago, where it took weeks sometimes even months depending on how remote one was.
But, the Power of Prayer can be done without the technology we have all become addicted to. But, we have to be willing to put it down and get on our knees before God.
