Letter from the editor

Make your obsessions work for you!

I don't know about you, but I go through phases of mini-obsessions. Whether it's writing, running, birding or true crime, I go through periods where it's hard for me to think about anything else! *Laugh*

I think often this can work to my advantage, and if you're like me, it can work for you, too!

One way you can explore your interests on WDC is to search the site using Genres. Click on "Browse by Genre" on the left and find a genre that fits your interests! Find other writers who have created items based on those interests. A tip to try to find forums, activities and contests is to refine those results once you've clicked on genre. At the top left of the list, click on "All Types" and click on Message Forums or In & Outs or Polls, or whatever type you're looking for, and you can find an activity based on your interest!

If you don't see what you're looking for, try creating it! If you're really into true crime, for instance, create forum to share information and promote discussion. Start a contest focused on your current interest to find others with similar likes!

One more thing you can do with your obsessions is a tip for NaNo-ers (it's never too early to start thinking about NaNo, right?): Have your character share an obsession and explain it in great detail to another character! *Laugh*

I truly believe Writing.Com has something for nearly everyone if you know how to look for it! And, of course, if you have questions, always feel free ask! *Smile*

As always, keep on writing!
