Sirrush, Babylonian Dragon God

The celestial Dragon of Babylonian and Mesopotamian myth. It had the body of a Dragon but the lower-half of a serpent which ended with a poisonous sting on the end. Its forelegs where like those of a lion but its hind legs were like that of an eagle. It had spike along the under side of it neck running down until the body. It also had horns protruding out from its head. It was the guardian of the Ishtar Gate. He is known as ‘Furious Snake’ and is one of the eleven creatures born from the goddess Tiamat. Together the monsters tried to overcome Marduk but they were all defeated. Sorcerers call upon the powers of Tiamat to summon Sirrush and the other ten creatures in a sacrificial ritual of eleven black candles.
