Everyone has something to hide from someone.
True, the world is harsh and cold.
Filled with hatred, our own mold.
Time is precious, yet we waste it so fast.
This bitterness we harbor, will not last.
True, our waters are so filled with trash.
Our air filled with poison; our lungs crash.
Our eyes look, but never truly see,
The anger in you, the sadness in me.
Behind the masks that the others all know,
Hidden is the bad, which we never show.
We may smile as we pass you in the lane,
But hidden in our eyes, are the waves of pain.
We keep it all hidden as we play our game,
We make it so we never see any shame.
The shame that eats at us,
Along with the bitterness and anger,
We pretend that we cannot see it,
And we act as if it was a stranger.
As we continue to keep the cold truth at bay,
As long as we pretend, it seems to be okay.
