and who knew I would survive the fall -

through the smallest of cracks -
nothingness prevails.
My eyes relaxed,
my hopes high,
I search for ... something.
Will you be here?

Nothing.

It only fits on the left hand.
I swear it's true!
I tried it on all the rest,
and... it used to fit there
but now,
now,
now it's an irritant that I just can't scratch,
its like an itch at the back of your eyeball-
don't touch it, stay calm, don't touch, DON'T!
- you can't go back,
once you scratched the surface
you can't go back.

I look down at the finger,
(the gems encased in silver tear up as the light shines down upon them - they're crying with me)
and i know,
that i have betrayed myself,
but i can't take it off.
it feels right.
it just, it just... feels right.
