Mr. Sandman, give me a dream...
Inside a cool dream,
the sandman tried to drown me.
I fought under fiery ice,
and I saw black in his eyes.
The cold sweat baked my skull.
I surfaced inside my room,
and he was there in the folding chair.
He began to mouth something to me,
but I couldn't hear him.
He was like a silent movie turned mad.
Void eyes, and angry expressions--
he wanted to teach me a lesson.
Grabbing my heart, he threw it off a building,
and into my past where the pain was before.
The river rushing enveloped me,
and father saved me.
The sandman smiled--father threw me back in.
I struggled and soon lost--
The sweat dropped in my eye--I awoke.
Shrugging sleep--I sat up,
and the floor was flooded--I tried to call,
but no one heard me--now I know--
The sandman tries to rule them all.
