A Viet Nam Vet wanders aimlessly in torment after the war.

Those Eyes Glowed With Madness

The whispering wind held secrets,
Heard only in the mind.
Of a lonely reclusive,
Stranger, maddened by time.
Everlasting.

Elliptical visions,
Yielded hidden horrors.
Enemy's torturous cuisine.
Starvation.

Glowing embers burned his skin,
Like the fires of hell.
Oblivious to the
World around him.
Each sensation brought him,
Desolation.

Without shame he wandered,
Ignorant of his appearance.
Thread bare and dirty, he was
Heartbroken.

Mad at the world
Around him, he
Damned the human race.
Noble was his cause, for
Eagerly he had
Strived to be, a duty bound
Soldier.
