Oh, what changes the Holy Spirit works in us!
Cocoon
By Allen R. Alderman

Held tight within my web of lies,
Bound within my sin,
Can't find a way to get me out
Or let another in.

My spirit yearns for freedom's taste
To feel the breath of grace.
The spider's closing in on me.
Help me leave this place!

What is this that comes to me
On strong yet silent wings?
It whispers words of life and love
Until my spirit sings!

Change prison into healing womb,
Captive into child,
Molding, shaping, sculpting me,
To image undefiled.

It cuts away the threads of death,
Untangles all the lies.
Into this place I came as prey,
But leave a butterfly.
