A humorous and true story.
Honestly the chair wasn't made for my Mother in law, she just happened to be the one to flip over backwards in it. A pretty hard lick to the back of her head and a little shook up but she was alright thank goodness.

Making rustic bent willow furniture has been a creative outlet for me for the past several years. A hobbie I have enjoyed and made a little cash in the process. My sister in law had order items from me on several occasions and was always happy with my craftmanship.

The order for a desk and chair came from my sister in law, who was opening a small gift shop in town. She wanted something unique, a custom design for her decor. The design was very nice with lots of detail on the desk top and the now infamous chair was equally beautiful in design.

My sister in law was waiting at her shop for
my husband and I when we delivered the furniture. She was very pleased. Later that day her mother came by the shop to help with getting the shop ready for opening day. She took one look at the desk and chair and said oh how beautiful and proceeded to take a seat. Now whether it was the chair or the levelness of the floor we can only guess but the chair bucked strait back like an untamed horse. Thank goodness only a bump on the back of her head resulted. I felt so bad, I told her how sorry I was and that I would see if the chair might need some adjustments made. I had sat in the chair as I worked on it making sure it was comfortable and sturdy and I just couldn't understand why it had flipped back with her.

Apologies made and not much harm done, I thought this incident was behind me. Imagine my surprise as the following Sunday came and my mother-in-law announced to the whole church that a chair I had made had flipped over backwards with her in it. She was of course just asking for prayer for the bump on her head, but the Pastor looked at me and smiled and ask did you do that on purpose, I said oh no. The Pastor and some of the members in the congregation kinda chuckled.

The real clincher came at the close of the service when everyone was shaking hands and enjoying a little fellowship. One gentleman walked up to shake my hand and leaned over and softly said I wish you could make me one of those chairs for my mother-in-law, we both had a good laugh. There just might be a market out there for Mother-in-law chairs.
