Once deleted. Now refound.
Hard to be thankful, gay,
And joyous this year,
Pulled from things held dear,
Placed in a shelter far away.
Yield all to God, I pray.

The water rose and tried to drown dreams.
Hatred and fear can't run unchecked,
As the world finds your spirit wasn't wrecked.
Not everyone feels helpless it seems,
Kids and parents worship in Gospel teams.
Some light a candle, or simply sit and cry,
Grateful to have survived the killer waters,
In their arms carrying sons and daughters.
Vacations at Thanksgiving time in places that stay dry,
Ice glazed yams, roast turkey, and hams catch the eye.
Now when your family sits and says grace,
God must be asked to remember the homeless in this place.
