Holiday Poem for Stormy Lady's Weekly Contest.
Independence Day showers its light on us today.
We, the chosen race of Americans
who are fighting to keep it safe linger on its mark in time.

In the WIND, is freedom.
With the touch of our hands,
together,
embracing flags,
we send a sign of good will for the whole world to
nurture a future.

SMOKE from the canons of yesteryear
remind us of what we hold dear.
We are alive.
We are its people.
We wave our banners from porches
and stem into the crowds watching many
colors of glistening lights burst in the skies.

The FLIGHT of our best fleet measures our success
and ascertains our progress.
Faithfully, we live and die.
We cradle our babes to reach out for generations new.
Again, today, we celebrate.
