Watch out for a Tiger at play
‘Tiger and the Sun.’
By

One hot sunny day, Tiger came out to play
With sunhat, sandals and brolly tied to his tail.

Off he bounded, happy as a Tiger could be,
But the other animals began to laugh and pointed at he.

Tiger stared at the animals busy at play,
Then looked at himself and all he displayed.

His hat was in place and sandals on tight,
The brolly behind him, open and bright.

“So why do you laugh,” he asks with a frown,
“I’m dressed for the moment, I’m not going to town.”

But Tigers frown had made them now nervous,
“You’re sure you wont be mad and decide to eat us.”

“Of course I wont; maybe a lick or two,
But nothing worse, so tell me pray do.”

“It’s your pants and your tea shirt, they’re missing you see,
If you don’t have them on, you’ll get burned before tea.”

Tiger looked down at the fine things that he wore,
Never thinking for a minute, he could finish up sore.

He groaned and moaned and growled out aloud,
“I’d better go hide, until I can find a dark cloud.”

“If I were to get, a sore sun-burned bum,
I’d get told off, from my very angry mum.”

So off he dashed, to collect up his missed gear,
This before the sun, could burn up his rear.

Then he returned all dressed up and smart,
Ready for play, with his animal friends to start.

“It’s lucky you noticed,” he said, with a mew,
And then they all laughed and, this time, Tiger did too.
