Louis gets a rude awakening... 2nd installment
*Disclaimer*
Kat- Alrighty, here's the abbreviated disclaimer: not mine, don't sue.
Lestat- See, now was that so hard?!
Kat- How'd you get back in here?
Lestat- You should know, human. You gave me these powers.
Kat- (Swears quietly to herself) No, Anne Rice did.
Lestat- I don't think the ability to teleport was on her list. But I thank you, mortal, for now I easily can drink your blood while you sleep.
Kat- You're asking for it, Girly Man!
Louis- (enters the room) I thought you might be tired, so I brought you some cof-
Lestat- I went easy on you last time, girl!
Kat- Yeah right, you just didn't want a stake through the heart.
Lestat- Fool! That was nothing more than a pencil. And that trick doesn’t work on vampires!
Louis- (sighs in exasperation and places tray down on the table) Well, it's here if you want it...
Kat- That's it! It's GO time!!!!

Act 2- No Longer Safe
Louis sat in his overstuffed chair, head resting on his left hand, studying Lestat intently. If he noticed Louis’ attention, Lestat showed no indication, for he just gazed in to the depths of the fire Louis had kindled, without really seeing it at all.
Louis could feel Lestat's agitation stirring, but could sense nothing of his thoughts. After all, Louis had not partaken of a human’s blood for close to a month and his powers of telepathy reflected that fact.
Lestat had confronted him about this unusual habit of his once, saying that it is dangerous to go so long between killings. Louis had simply shrugged off the accusation, saying that he lived too far out in the outskirts of New Orleans to be able to procure a victim as often as he liked.
Lestat had growled at this, saying that all Louis needed to do was to go to the big city once every week and find a victim in order to keep his powers fresh. “If you did so, you wouldn’t be so damn weak all the time.” He had said, tearing apart Louis’ fragile excuse. However Louis continued to hunt only when he deemed it absolutely necessary, and Lestat, despite his obvious disapproval, did not bring the subject up again.
Finally Lestat jerked out of his contemplation and turned to Louis who was still waiting expectantly. “I went to see David last week.” Lestat said finally. Louis, who had not expected this topic, blinked and said.
“I’m sure you were received better by him, than by the other vampires.” He paused as if uncertain of whether or not to continue, before adding carefully. “... But what does this have to do with what you’re going to tell me?” He paused again. “Is that the reason? You’ve cooked up yet another grand adventure in which you in David plan to coerce me into joining?”
“Not exactly,” Lestat replied, reaching for the book bag he had brought with him, “though you have gotten pretty good at predicting us.” His fingers deftly unzipped the bag and retrieved a thick leather-bound book from it’s depths. He solemnly handed it to Louis, who reached out to receive it almost automatically. Louis sent a quizzled look to the vampire before directing his attention to the book.
“It appears to be a journal of some kind.” He commented to himself as he gently opened the cover. His luminous emerald eyes narrowed as he read the name that had been scrawled across the first page, and he looked up at Lestat in surprise. “Lestat...” He said breathlessly. “This is David’s journal!?”
“Written during his life as a mortal” Louis sent him a rather severe look, as though he believed Lestat had stolen the journal. Lestat felt his anger increase a bit “He wanted to warn me of some sort of danger...” Said Lestat, almost defensively.
“Oh?” Louis said absently, leafing through the pages which had turned brittle and yellow with age. “David had kept this journal from when he was twenty years of age!” Louis marveled softly, pulling his free hand through his deep chestnut hair. “Lestat, that means this is over fifty years old!”
“For once, will you forget the book and listen to me?!” Lestat snapped angrily. Especially as I’m trying to save your pompous ass, he thought viciously. Louis raised his eyebrows at Lestat's outburst, but complied with his demand.
“Very well, you have my undivided attention.” He said, closing the cover of David’s journal, with a prim smile.
Lestat felt his anger peak at the other vampire’s words. Why that condescending little... Now I remember why I left in the first place....
Louis, of course had no way of knowing the exact number of curses that ran through Lestat's mind, however it wasn’t hard to guess at. With a shrug, he smiled, waiting for Lestat to relax and continue speaking. However as the minutes passed and Lestat showed no signs of stopping his mental tirade, Louis’ patience grew admittedly dimmer.
“Please, Lestat, what were you going to say?” He said, flashing him a pointed smile.
“You’re in danger.” Lestat replied simply, Louis’ face showed his confusion.
“What do you mean, Lestat?”
“Look, David wanted me to tell you.” Lestat said leaning in his chair. “He explained it all in his journal, and, after reading his last entry, I think his fears are well founded.”
“But how would David have known, even before you or I?” Louis asked, brow creased in thought.
“He used to be the head of the Talamasca.” Lestat pointed out. “The whole organization is devoted to observing the creatures of darkness. If anything happens, you can bet that they already know of it. And David won’t be far behind them.”
“But what is this danger, that David was so certain I am in?”
Lestat stood up and grabbed his bag. “Just read the last entry.” He said as he slung the bag over his shoulder and placed the large, tinted sunglasses over his eyes. “I can’t really explain it all as well as he.”
Louis glanced down at book, before redirecting his focus on the slim body, clothed in denim and a loose T-shirt, walking out of the room. “Where are you going, Lestat?”
“To find some dinner.” Came the nonchalant reply, accompanied with a quick wave of his hand.
-------------------------------------------------
January 11, 1991
I must write this down, for I fear that I will never be able to tell the news to Lestat and Louis in person. I feel my strength waning with every passing day, but I am not afraid to die. Though I know Lestat is troubled by my increasing fragility. I have lived out my natural life and do not wish to remain on this earth for eternity.
But I fear for Louis’ life. <If you can call it that ^-^;> He has no idea of the plot that has been formed with painstaking care. A plot that centers around his demise....
----------------------------------------------------
.... Louis’ brow creased even further at those last words. “Since when am I so essential to anything?” He asked himself as he continued to read David’s careful records.
--------------------------------------------------
As I am writing this to two vampires who have existed for centuries in this world, there is no need to be redundant. However, I feel I must explain the logic that led up to this conspiracy.
As I am sure they know, a vampire’s prowess becomes stronger as they grow older, however their powers also depend on the person whom they received their “gift” of immortality. Since they both descended from the vampire, Magnus-- Louis through Lestat and Lestat from Magnus himself-- both have strong abilities at their disposal. And their respective ages have given both of their powers a chance to ripen. But there is one last component in determining the degree of power, and this is perhaps the most important, blood.
Blood is the single most important thing to a vampire, not only do these creatures depend on this substance for their very survival, it also gives strength to their abilities, building it up as the vampires consume more and more of it.
And this is where the plot comes in. Until they have gained control over the various abilities, these vampires are considered nothing more than vermin. Easily disposable when compared to the strength of the elder vampires, who are much stronger and experienced by comparison. And for most of these underlings, any chance of rising further in rank is virtually impossible. For most are sired by weak vampires, who are just looking for more accomplices, and are therefor more or less stuck serving the far stronger vampires for all eternity.
The Talamasca has discovered that some of these “underlings” have grown tired of servitude and wish to advance into what I shall call the “Royal Family of vampirism.” They have also discovered -- by what means, I cannot be sure-- that by drinking the blood of another vampire they can absorb the power that lies within.
Normally, this wouldn’t matter, since the Royalty can halt any attack on the underlings part by instantly incinerating the latter. However, the underlings have discovered one such “Royalty” who is more susceptible to a group attack.... Louis....
-------------------------------------------------
“Ah.” Louis said thoughtfully as he stretched a bit to remove the slight ache of sitting in one position for so long. “I see where you are headed with this, David....” With a small yawn, Louis checked the outside window. Assured that he still had a good six or seven hours before dawn, Louis went back to the journal.
------------------------------------------------
...Louis has made himself a perfect target for these conspirators. He has all the powers of the other Royalty: telepathy, levitation, telekinesis, the ability to set things afire simply by looking at them, and even the ability to teleport across small distances. However, he feeds rarely, and because of this, his powers are nearly always below operating capacity. By now, it will take much more than one or two meals a night to restore his powers back to full strength. However he does still retain them, which is very fortunate to the underlings.
All they need do is each a quart or so of his blood and they shall posses his powers. Our best estimate puts the total number of coconspirators at ten or twelve. And they plan to suck Louis dry, in order to gain his powers. Once they do, they’ll probably retreat into hiding in order to build up their powers, and one day may attempt to overthrow the now reigning “Royalty.”
I write this in the hopes that it will fall into Lestat's possession, for I am sure he would relay the warning to Louis. The fool has dug his own grave, yet I cannot stand by and let him be killed without doing all that is in my limited power to help him.
David,
Talamasca Headquarters, England
----------------------------------------------------
New Orleans was an excellent place to hunt for prey. Lestat had found a very nice prospect after only one hour of scouring the more shady parts of the city.
Despite his apparent disdain for Louis’ compassion, Lestat made a point of killing only murderers and the like. Occasionally, he would slip and indulge on someone who had committed no heinous act against humanity... but only rarely; there are plenty of criminals to chose from these days
His target tonight was quite the sicko, he always went after young- to teenage- girls. He would bring them to this area, and kill them after he had his fun. Oh yes, he was a good choice, Lestat mused as he removed his sunglasses, gaining slowly on his victim, who was completely unaware of his fate....

<1.) Yeah, I BSed the whole story. I don't know anything about whether or not this is true. however it sounded good, and I was desperately need a good shoreline. There was nothing else that came to mind. So please don't kill me because of that either. And I also don't know if Louis' feeding habits are like that, but it seemed to fit his personality... well that and I can't imagine Lestat starving himself like that...
2.) last comment.... Thank God For the Internet.... I had no idea David was turned into a Vampire.... he actually died in this Fanfic before I found out. That info really screwed me up for a bit... I had no idea of what to do with the story... but now I’m glad he didn’t die, trust me he’ll make a lot more appearances in this story.
