A poem about my dislike of the winter season
Winter’s Freeze
By
Richard Vance

The colored leaves get blown around,
and finally settle to the ground.
Gone is Summer’s balmy breeze,
too soon will come the winter's freeze.

The landscape looks all bare and gray,
all the leaves have fallen, just branches stay.
Some say they like when seasons change
they like the cold, but I think it’s strange.

Now sweaters and jackets we must wear,
to protect us from the chilly air.
Our days get shorter one by one,
and less and less we see the sun.

The cold north wind begins to blow,
and with it surely comes the snow
This time each year I get depressed,
at least six months till Spring, at best.

A few more years when work is done,
I’ll retire to Florida’s sun and fun.
Another snowflake I pray I’ll never see
It’ll be palm trees, beaches, and golf for me.
