A Parents Divorce affects a Child/Adolescent
Mom, you told me you loved Dad with all of your heart, and that you'd never leave him. You told me that we would always be together as a family, and that we would always love each other no matter what, and that we would help each other through hard times. What about baking cookies for the scouts this fall? Will that still happen? I'm worried.
Dad, you promised me that you loved mom with everything you had. Don't tell me now that you've lost everything and now you cannot love mom anymore. We're a family, and you're gonna teach me how to get better at football this summer. I thought we would have fun times...and what--what about this Christmas? Does this mean no more apple pies and great Christmas traditions?
Is it my fault? Was it something I did that made you mad and now you're leaving each other. You tell me that you're separating...but is it only temporary...will you two get back together, or am I going to be alternating houses on weekends, am I going to be in a court room? With a judge who gives Mom majority of custody. It isn't fair. Its all my fault, I wasn't good enough. I dont' want to be just another statistic about kids with divorced parents. How could you do this?!
You don't need to give me excuses, I want an explanation.

Tell Me Why.
