Nonsensical Dreamings....
The Maple Tree

The Maple tree, upon my lawn,
rouses himself to greet the dawn.

His branches spread up, his roots grow down.
His leaves are red upon his crown.

The birds in their nests begin to flutter
and to prepare for the song they will utter.

And the squirrels begin to bark and chatter.
They run about like crazy mad hatters.

The Maple tree, my longtime friend,
prepares himself for Autumn's end.

He spreads his blanket upon the ground
and as I walk by I love the sound

of crackling leaves the breeze swirls past.
The Autumn season passed much too fast.

Warm apple cider and, of course, Oktoberfest,
caramel apples, candy corn - Autumn is the best.

My early walk this dawn is to
say a fond farewell to my friend, who -

I'll see again with Spring's return.
It's Nature's way for seasons to turn.

So I'll not shed a tear and enjoy this dawn's show.
They"ll be back come spring, all my friends, I know.

The Maple tree quiets the din.
Squirrels and birds settle, Shh! it begins....
