For who ever wondered what goes on in an animal's head as they look at you.
There’s a woodpecker outside my window,
I wonder if I should let him in.
He looks at me like I should,
As if he’s a long lost friend

There’s a woodpecker outside my window,
Brown and white and black, with spots
Then there’s his little feet and eyes
Small and black like two little dots

There’s a woodpecker outside my window
I see him very well,
But I can’t help but think,
What does he have to tell?

There’s a woodpecker outside my window,
I wonder if he knows what I’m thinking,
It’d be a nice twist of irony if he did.
