Zeke and Freddy fight over who loved Daisy more.
---Ext: DAISY"S HOUSE: Early Morning---

-Freddy pulls into Daisy's driveway, his old Buick bouncing over the gravel and potholes. Small spits of rain drizzle onto his windshield. Zeke is seen through the windshield, he sits on the front stoop of Daisy's house, his tears are visible even through the rain. Freddy stops short and jumps from the car, slamming the door.-

Freddy:
(Stomping toward Zeke) What the hell are you doing here?

Zeke:
(Much more calm, but through tears) I heard the news in class, I just walked here from school. Where have you been?

-Freddy runs at Zeke and grabs him by the collar. His fist clenches at his side.

Freddy:
Don't give me that, what the hell did you say to her last night?

Zeke:
What? (Wipes tears from his eyes with his sleeve) Dude. I only said goodnight to her, she said she had homework. Then I get to school the next day and find out she's pulled a straight razor across her wrist.

Freddy:
(Letting Zeke go and turning from him) Oh that is bull and you know it, you prick! You've been screwing with her head since you broke up with Mark!

Zeke:
I've been screwing with her head? Me? Oh damn you, you selfish little twit!

-Freddy refuses to turn around and look Zeke in the face. Zeke grabs his shoulder and looks him in the eye.-

Zeke:
You two broke up SEVEN TIMES! She's been a mess since the third! All she ever wanted was for you to be her best friend again. She wanted the old Freddy, the one who let her go out with her other friends without guilting his way into going with her.

Freddy:
(Pushing Zeke away) Please, you've done nothing but annoy her for two months. She wasn't ready to move on.

Zeke:
(throwing his hands in the air) Oh yes, she only lied to me those million times she was sitting in my car, crying her eyes out and cursing the fact that she let you play her like a violin.

-Zeke plays his arm as a mock violin. This time, Freddy throws a punch. He misses Zeke by an inch or so, but Zeke trips on a rock and falls to the stoop.-

Freddy:
(Standing over him) Don't give me that bull. She was scared, she didn't want to leave me.

Zeke:
(Still on the ground) Oh come on! Why don't you just stop lying to yourself and tell me what it really is? You're the one who was scared, Freddy. You guys broke up and you got scared, and Don't blame you. I've been scared as hell since I broke up with Mark, but you did nothing but make her miserable. You couldn't stand to see her move on and leave you in the dust.

Freddy:
But you-

Zeke:
(rising to his feet again) Yeah I know about me, Freddy! I know I only made matters worse sometimes, and I know that i did my share of damage, hell I'll even go as far as to say that maybe I DID have some part in putting that razor between her fingers. But i'll be damned to the fricken ninth circle of hell if you think you had nothing to do with this. She was a mess, Freddy. She had a father who barely noticed her, a brother with so many disorders they were afraid to actually put him on medication because it might get worse, and her circle of friends went from a nice tight group of like eight to like her you and me, and i'll tell it straight, you sure as hell were next in line to go. (Freddy turns from Zeke again, this time with intention to get back in the car) Don't run away from this, Freddy. I know I might have had something to do with this. I mean, I didn't walk an hour and a half through the rain just to sit on these steps and point a finger at you. Now I'm gonna live with this the rest of my life and you will, too, no matter how far you run.

-Freddy steps backwards and drops onto the stoop next to Zeke. Zeke sits down, as well.-

Freddy:
(quietly, as if to himself) I always hated seeing her do better then me, I don't know why.

Zeke:
She loved you, man. She loved you in a way that I could never be loved by her, even if we had been together the rest of our lives. It's why she always came back.

Freddy:
(Tears swell up in his eyes) But now she'll never be back. (Zeke puts an arm around his shoulders)...Did you love her?

Zeke:
Yes. I could never have asked for a better girl.

Freddy:
(tears now pour down his cheek) I'm sorry.

-both boys begin to cry heavily, Zeke even gives Freddy a kiss on the cheek.-

Zeke:
I know.
