The more gullible people are , the more fun I have. Sorry!
IS IT A BIRD?

Staring out the window,
Not much to see at all,
Then from out there somewhere,
I heard a wee bird call.

There within a pot plant,
I saw a tiny bird,
It didn't move-- I kept quite still,
I didn't breathe a word.

I called upon my housemates
To come look at this dear thing.
They came and whispered "Lovely -
Do you think that it will sing?"

"If it's laying eggs we'll hatch them,
Just the one or two,
Then we'll have a family,
Of birds to bill and coo".

For three whole days I had them,
Waiting for a sign.
That here would soon begin a life
Enriching theirs and mine.

One utter non-believer
Had to go and have a poke,
And all my ploys were shattered,
They found it was a joke

For it was not a birdie
In a pot plant-- Oh, the shame!
But a piece of driftwood fashioned
By dear Nature's wind and rain!
