A beautiful Australian bird who brings news of rain.
Black cockatoo

BLACK COCKATOOS

I have plants in my yard, and occasional palms,
But way up behind in the back,
Is a funny old tree, that spreads out its arms
And its home to some cockatoos ---- BLACK!

They screech and they squawk like their white cousins do,
But we see them less often --- a shame.
The old wives tell tales of the Black Cockatoo,
If you count them, they'll tell when there's rain.

Count Black Cockatoos and add on a one,
"That's the day it will rain" they do shout.
"Hey! Black Cockatoo, I beg you to come,
"We need you to help break the drought!"
