Fairly new to poetry I usually write short stories but wanted to try something different.

Nature’s Battle

This journey began long ago for one of life’s creators.

Growing, twisting, and reaching into the skies.

Knowing that is where its enemy lies.

Besieged by unrelenting attacks from this natural predator

it continues to soar to new heights.

Rolling thunder flashes of lights

a darkening sky foretells the enemy is at hand.

One of its own hangs by a strand.

Creaking and cracking it grows weary.

The predator amasses its temper to a high pitched fury.

Unleashing, unyielding, and unforgiving the enemy storms with a wicked rage.

Flailing, swaying, clinging; it holds tight.

But tonight, it cannot withstand the enemies might.

Falling to the ground amidst the morning haze

this time it lost the fight.
