Windswept moments through the cold season culminate in a magic Christmas.
I had been a soldier in the art
of hiding my feelings for many
cold seasons.
Share my witness.
The snow glows in the heat
of a deep freeze.
The glamour of the poorer seconds,
when I was away from you,
in some distant alleyway,
not knowing you,
not knowing anything about
someone like you,
misunderstanding every man
on earth,
surrendering my love to a showdown
of cruel men,
was only a pause in time.

No, the dominos slide.
The icicles hang from the palace
of dreams.
At this, they embroil a menacing
confusion,
and reveal a true passion in me.
Enduring season after season,
tethered to your
generous sense of good decisions,
I will step away from the world's sad state
of affairs.

Lonely, lonely notes of
promising words.
Only, a pause in time.

You are my December sleigh ride.
Visions of later conspiracies
will not shape my ideas.
I remain clear-headed.
We are here, standing together,
shaking, with a heated kiss,
folding our arms around each other
like folding another year into magic.
Why worry? I tell you tenderly.
