A poem of a changing world.
The red October Skies are threatning
And they never blind nor bluff
The Earth is good but dead and dry
The Wind blows restless, the seas too rough

My eyes deceive me,
I know they do
They shadow over in purple clouds
All that I once knew

And when the bastard
Is praised in glory,
The hero is stoned to death
All is in ruin, sick and gory
'Till every man breathes his last breath

I'm headed ever home
But it's never twice the same
Fields stained with blood and tears
And the familiar reek of shame

And the ancient drum beats steady
And my old heart beats too
But just like false gold turns your skin green
This place turns my old heart blue

The red October skies are threatning
But they may be posing a bluff
Lord, hold my hand through the purple clouds
It's not yet time for my flame to be snuffed
