A friend asked me to write a piece about how she and her husband met.
Tough Guys Don't Dance With The Ladies

Tough guys don't dance with the ladies
They won't even try yet they're asked all the time
They like to drink whiskey from very small glasses
And play eight ball for hours at a time

They stand in a group 'round a barstool
Talkin' 'bout what's on their mind
It can't be alot 'cause the talking it stops
When the ladies walk past with a smile

I love gin and tonic like most girls here do
But when they buy you a drink, it's a beer
Don't talk about life cause they'll head for the door
Committment is their greatest fear

Sometimes I think that there's only one thing
That they'd rather be doing at night
But then if I do, will they talk 'bout me too
Between the whiskey, the pool and the fights

I asked for a drink from the barman
And a soft voice sent chills down my spine
He asked for my name and I told him Elaine
Then he sat down beside me and smiled

The hours seemed like minutes, I was locked in his gaze
And at closing time I froze with fear
Was I looking for a ring or a casual fling
Would the night end in laughter or tears

Soul mates for life, now we're husband and wife
From a night filled with yes, no's and maybe's
You'll get your turn, cause if there's one thing I've learned
Is that some tough guys do dance with ladies
