Special? You bet! I’m a child of the King!
Who, Me? Special?
by Marilyn Mackenzie

Am I special? Of course I am! But so are you, and you and you!

God above made us each special, unique individuals, much as He made the snowflakes all different. But I’m not better than anyone, just special and different. God, as our wonderful Father, loves us each the same, whether we have been part of His family for years or just joined it this afternoon.

Some think they’ve had such horrible lives that God won’t love them, or at least love them as much as someone who has led a "better" life. That’s not true! The Bible says that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

We’re all sinners, and it doesn’t matter if the sin is a big one or a little one. Sin is sin. And once we’ve repented of our sin, we’re forgiven. Once we’ve acknowledged that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and asked Jesus to be our Lord and Savior, we’re a part of Christ’s family.

As a Christian, then, getting to know God and know Jesus on a more personal level is something for which one should strive. Reading God’s word, praying, and being involved in a Bible believing church fellowship helps in that regard. God’s Spirit will reside within us, helping us know how to pray, how to act.

Telling others about what God has done in your life should probably follow. But, as unique and different individuals, how we do that will be unique and different as well. While I am quite comfortable with wanting to shout from the rooftops, you may wish to quietly walk as a follower of Jesus. You may wish to be involved quietly in your own ministry, your own mission for Jesus. Perhaps you’ll opt for feeding the homeless. Perhaps you’ll be blessed with the gift of giving or the gift of teaching or the gift of helps. Wherever your gifts lie, you’ll want to use them for Him, to help promote the Kingdom of God. And doing so will refresh you.

Good works are not necessary for Salvation, but they are usually a result of Salvation. Giving back makes sense! Giving back in the way we’re comfortable with, in the way God has willed, makes even more sense!

Special? You bet! I’m a child of the King!
