The end of a brutal relationship.
Piercing blue eyes.
Eyes so fierce,
So full of hatred.
Ever so watchful,
As she flaunts her freedom,
She thinks she has won.

The glint of cold steel, in the afternoon sun
As she saunters down the street,
Oblivious to the piercing stare that follows her.

Rounding the corner,
The first smile in years, gracing her lips.
No one around,
But she no longer fears him.
She is free.
Free of fear,
Free of him.

A shadow comes from behind.
As she turns,
Searing pain
Blinding agony.

He turns her fullly to face him
One last time,
As he plunges the knife in again,
And again, and again.

She sees his face one last time,
Triumphant as he proclaims,
"I told you, you would never live without me!"
As her life fades,
She smiles ever so slightly,
And she whispers,
"I am finally free of you.  I am finally free!"
