But which trunk is it?
Memory Trunk

In the trunk
In the attic
Are Memories.
I think.

Grammar school awards
Teddy bears
Bellbottoms
All in the memory trunk
I think

Nooks and crannies
filled with memories,
treasures, things.
stuff, junk.

With firm resolve
I venture into the memories,
Excavate treasures.
I smile and get lost.

I wonder how anyone can clear
A personal memory trunk.
She said her good memories
began eight years ago.
Smugly I think...
Mine over fifty years ago.
See? I have the proof.

I ponder my need for the past,
my lifeline.
Reluctantly I return
From my reverie.

The physical reminders of youth
The space they occupy
In my home and heart
Clutter my life!
Are they more precious
Than the gift of this day?

I wonder.
