Death Can’t Wait

He is coming.

Pounding, racing, beating.
Too fast. Too fast to be normal
Beneath aching ribs.

Blurring, hazy, out of focus.
Nothing looks clear anymore.
Crystal blue eyes see blackness.

Always the blackness.

Tiny, distant, painful.
Ears bleed.
Sounds hurt too much to hear.
Too Loud. Nothing makes sense anymore.

Nothing.

He is coming.

There is a beeping.

Beeping,
Beeping.

Somewhere beyond that Border of knowledge.
The Border
That is cloudy and hardly indistinguishable.

But what is it?

Realization.

Machines,
Hospital,
Death.

And still He is coming.
Closer and closer.

A looming shadow.

Is Goodbye not allowed, these days?
So abrupt, so sudden.
So unfair.

Racing,
Blurring,
Deafening.

Blackness,
Stillness,
Grieving.

He isn’t coming anymore.

He’s already here.
