for all those taken from us too soon vt, colombine
under the furious moonlight,

    sillouhetted  shadows  lie,
frozen before their mother's pouch,
    their breaths exhaled,
silver- tongued before
      some wormwood fate
had split their night.

the dawn of sun's last waking
    cracked their parting site,
and winked cross- haired
      in red waves breaking down
in streams of silent
      light.

what was it last you thought
      across the neuron
firing sparks he brought,
      in the still electricity
of that muzzled warm bullet's
      flight?

in the furious moonlight,
      our shattered hopes lay,
dead or dying
        in their father's empty
sight, that split
        across our darkened night.
