So color me bitter...
I’m a rambler
i’m a gambler
and color me bitter
‘cause i’m just a shell
and i have been for years
But it doesn’t matter
‘cause i am immortal
So color me bitter
i’ve done this for years

He enters the restaurant
to pick up a pizza
but the pizza’s not ready
so he sits at the bar
I watch him with interest
and the ring on his finger
I swagger on over
and sit at the bar
Show off an id
that don’t know my real age
‘cause no one’d believe
that i am that old

I’m a rambler
i’m a gambler
and color me bitter
‘cause i’m just a shell
and i have been for years
But it doesn’t matter
‘cause i am immortal
So color me bitter
i’ve done this for years

I down my first drink
turn towards him and ask
if he’ll buy me another
and he says he will
He races to match me
one after another
down a slippery throat
with no time to think
And i goad him quickly
for thought serves no purpose
or just not with the brain
but the two down below

I’m a rambler
i’m a gambler
and color me bitter
‘cause i’m just a shell
and i have been for years
But it doesn’t matter
‘cause i am immortal
So color me bitter
i’ve done this for years

He’s red-faced and drunk
We find somewhere else
brushing and rubbing
an impersonal place
I bite with my nails
unmistakable marks
just not quite bleeding
i’ve done this for years
and because he’s so drunk
i can get away
with taking his ring
as with all the others

I’m a rambler
i’m a gambler
and color me bitter
‘cause i’m just a shell
and i have been for years
But it doesn’t matter
‘cause i am immortal
So color me bitter
i’ve done this for years

I prop him up
and carry him back
back to the restaurant
the pizza long ready
His wife is there now
angry and pacing
i hand him to her
and i walk away
Husbands and wives
the most lazy of lovers
I pull them apart
and i think it’s great fun

I’m a rambler
i’m a gambler
and color me bitter
‘cause i’m just a shell
and i have been for years
But it doesn’t matter
‘cause i am immortal
So color me bitter
i’ve done this for years

The ring’s in my pocket
Why am i this way
Why does it matter
it don’t make a difference
Would it matter at all
if i did it to you
and told you sincerely
just why i am bitter
Oh no
no it wouldn’t
and god forbid
that you cease to condemn
Though in my contempt
it no longer stings
dare to condemn me
‘cause i’m Bitter Jacqueline

I’m a rambler
i’m a gambler
and color me bitter
‘cause i’m just a shell
and i have been for years
But it doesn’t matter
‘cause i am immortal
So color me bitter
i’m Bitter Jacqueline
