The sweetness of life in the common things around us.
Oh, how blind we can be
To the treasure that is in life.
How we wrongly search land and sea..
Breaking our spines in strife.

The treasure lies in the smile ;
In a baby's glistening eyes.
O, watch for a lingering while
The sun before the day dies.

The rhythm of pounders of corn..
The quick knocking of knees..
To music from a cow horn.

The scent of foliage in the woods..
The golden voice droning long...
The ripple of muscle carrying goods..
And what I have treasured for so long
Your heartbeat's sweetest song.
