Poem in praise of music
Music, ah, a caressing interlude
it infuses your senses and makes the
cares of days wither into nothingness.
Artful adagios and triumphant
climactic crescendoes tingle the spine
and calm the ravages of everyday.

Fanciful pieces float carefree among
staid and pompous offerings from varied
composers whose passion is evident
in their music, a life's body of work.
Just as a writer conveys his meaning
through words and ideas on a simple page.

Music is just art in its truest form
notes and phrases to convey feelings of
joy or sorrow depending on the aim
of the author. Only the listener
is the recipient of his hallowed
efforts. The reader through his ears is moved.

No better way to spend an afternoon
than to hear a beautiful creation
Meant to soothe or relax or to evoke
feelings of joy or calm or happenstance
A bitter world would we yet inhabit
Which never knew of music's demeanor.
