My first sonnet, inspired by experience of having to say goodbye to a romantic partner.
As I reflect on moments from the past,
I sit and dream and think you are still here;
The past recollections from first to last,
Those dreams far beyond, my heart still holds dear;
Those happy, cherished times are yours and mine,
Recorded in our seperate books of life,
Yet to think happ'ly now and write sad lines
Is youth to mark a hypocrite of strife;
For when fresh, sad shapes for mthese distant thoughts,
A piece inside me reads and smiles blithe;
Seeing long-dried tears from lessons of heart
Adds to the joy when I true-love do find.
Until that time I will forget you not,
For imprints of first love the heart does knot.
