a poem about communication in relationships
Jumbled thoughts
mumbled
as if universal truths,
tumbled out
into the space between
us,
creating
instead of lessoning
the distance.

Your eyes push out so much sometimes,
sometimes
they forget to receive.
Too often my eyes are blind
to everthing but
what comes from my own mind,
struggling to comprehend my own time,
this time,
this moment...in time,
where we look at each other
with our mountains of conditioning
each of us bringing,
trying
to display it all for a "real"
connection.

But we just end up struggling
in our own identities,
very rarely
able to see
all the way
across.
